Island Adventures at The Reef
Grand Cayman Tours and Attractions
Deep sea fishing in the waters off The Reef can yield some amazing hauls. Tarpon and snapper. Barracuda and tuna. Marlin and wahoo. Capt. Joey Welcome, at the wheel of the 26-foot diesel powered MerPanga, knows the best spots, whether off shore or on the inner reef. The vessel, Eco-Panga, is rigged for six deep sea fishing lines and comes fully equipped with depth sounder, GPS, and all safety gear. Excursions are made daily with night trips available.

Sailing
Join the crew of a sloop, captain your own sailboat or enjoy a catered dinner on a catamaran. Whatever you choose, sailing in the turquoise waters off The Reef is an experience you won’t want to miss.
Opt for a half- or full-day snorkeling excursions aboard the Red Baron, a 39-foot sloop expertly captained by an able yachtmaster. You can charter the 24-foot Columbia and sail it yourself. And sunset and dinner cruises in the roomy cabin of a 65-catamaran offer the perfect ending to a Cayman Islands day.

Submarines
The wonders of the underwater world are yours to view up close when you go on a once-in-a-lifetime submarine excursion. Atlantis Submarine Adventures, the original tourist submarine company headquartered right here in Cayman, takes you on a narrated tour of the deep in one of four vessels. The Seaworld Explorer lets you view the underwater world through underside windows, without submerging. The Cayman Explorer is a bubble sub designed for two passengers and a pilot. The air-conditioned Expedition seats 48 and goes to a depth of 100 feet. For your list of “things to do before you die”, the Deep Explorer Research Sub takes two passengers at a time on a thrilling dive up to 1,000 feet below the surface.

Walkabouts
Just as spectacular as the reefs, marine life and underwater plant life that thrive in the sea off the Cayman Islands are the on-land flora and fauna. The Reef is the nearest resort to Grand Cayman’s Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, a fascinating destination where visitors can stroll the grounds where hundreds of tropical and subtropical plants are found. Wildlife thrives here as well, including the endangered Grand Cayman blue iguana, and a complement of native birds.
Heritage Garden, also a part of the Park, gives visitors a view into the Caymans’ past. Dating back to the early 20th century, the completely restored Rankin home has been completely restored and features a porch, cook room with caboose, cistern, natural well, native coral stone fences and pathways lined with conch shells.
